The graciousness of God gave Sarah and Abraham, in their old age, a son they named Issac. However, out of fear that Ishmael, born earlier to Hagar (Sarah’s slave) and Abraham, would be the primary heir, Hagar and Ishmael were abandoned in the desert to die.
The graciousness of God came to the aid of Hagar and Ishmael with their discovery of a gushing well that flows to this day in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The descendants of Ishmael, like the descendants of Issac continue to our day as well.
Fear can bring out the dark-side of us all as it did with Sarah and Abraham. Fear can make us forget the grace upon grace that we have received. God’s grace is sufficient for is today and for ever.
